S’Klallam Hwy 101 Road Proposal Posted Online

Where is “Blyn” Washington

This settlement at the head of Sequim Bay once had a thriving cannery,  sawmill,  pool hall,  dance hall, railroad depot,  general store,  church and post office.photo of Blyn Washington, circa 1900

According to one report, the name originated from the mispronunciation of B.F. Dean’s son’s name, Orville,  into “Oblyn”. Dean shortened the nickname to Blyn and named the town after his son in the 1890s.

Blyn prospered until the mid-twenties when logging ran out.
